Project Overview: Create a repeating pattern tile and display its practical uses.

Planning: The project was very open ended, so I wanted to make something that I really enjoyed. I absolutely love Christmas, especially little

winter villages! When brainstorming, I came up with a color palette, theme, and inspirations. Sketching small elements of the bigger picture started during this phase.

Creation: Having creative freedom made the creation phase relatively straightforward. As I blocked out the roads and homes, I made sure to consistently check for repetition throughout the piece. Since this is a tile design, it was important that the piece was not only open-ended but also capable of repeating seamlessly. This was a challenge, especially given the level of detail in the design.

Presentation: In order to complete the assignment, we not only had to show the repetitive qualities of the tile, but also show practical uses of it physically with the resources given to us by the university. Most made blankets, but I felt as though my design would work best as wrapping paper. For my final physical presentation, I had a fabric swatch, a poster, and wrapping paper samples.
